Shannon and Jason's Wedding

September 4-5, 2004
The first couple of pictures in this series are from the rehearsal dinner on September 4.  This was hosted at Mom and Dad's house in Chantilly.  It was a good chance to meet all of the out of town guests but, as you can see, I didn't spend much time taking pictures at the party.  In fact most of the pictures from that night were Roger taking self portraits.  I kept the one that shows how he earned the nickname "Grumpy".
The wedding was at the Fort Belvoir Officer's Club.  This was a beautiful setting.  As we arrived we took a few pictures next to the officer's club looking out onto the water.

Of course no wedding would be complete without some last minute drama.  Ours came in the form of a late arriving Flower Girl as Shelby was driven all over Northern Virginia before making it to Fort Belvoir.  Everyone made it there at the last minute and everything was fine.

The reception went pretty smoothly.  Never mind that I declared myself to be the sister of the bride during my toast.  :)  Toasts were made, first dances done, cake was eaten, you know all the standard wedding reception traditions.  Once the traditions were done and the reception turned into a party we were treated to stripping Marines, and Uncle Charley taking 500 family portraits with the portable cameras that were laid on the reception tables.

Shannon and Jason left the reception in Shannon's Mustang.  Jason put his foot down and peeled the Mustang out in an exit that did a good job of wrapping up the night.  It's quite fitting that Shannon was carried off in a roaring 5.0.

The picture to the right was my almost perfect picture of the couple leaving the reception.  The glitter in the air, everyone cheering, Shannon laughing.  If it wasn't for that big arm in front of Jason's head, this would have been a great picture.  :)
