VT vs USC in the BCA Classic |
| August 24, 2004 |
| Virginia Tech's first game of the 2004 football season was in the
BCA Classic against the University of Southern California. The game
was at a FedEx Field in Landover, MD. Technically this was a bowl
game at a neutral site, but in reality Maryland is a heck of a lot
closer to Blacksburg than it is to Los Angeles. This made for a
majority Hokie crowd. We met a bunch of guys from LA while
tailgating in the parking lot. They proclaimed the Nathan's
hotdogs that we gave them to be the best the they'd ever had. Oh
yeah! East coast hot dogs rule! The Hokies hung pretty well with the Trojans. Especially since the Trojans were just coming off of a national championship year in 2003. We were up 10 to 7 at half time, but ended up losing the game 13 to 24.
