The 2003 Trip to Indianapolis |
||
| Day3 Race Day | May 25, 2003 | |
| Needless to say, the day of the Indy 500 is huge.
Just driving there was a big deal. We got special treatment from
the Indianapolis police because we had a parking pass to park in the
trailer park across the street from the track. It was fun having
to push the rented mini-van through wall to wall people on the street
outside of the track. I stayed with the group who didn't go to the actual race. I came here to to see the people not the cars. The race was kicked off with a huge balloon launch, and a B2 flyover. |
|
|
| After the race, the group who went to the race came back to the trailer, and we all had dinner with Uncle Dave and Aunt Margie. This was a great time of just hanging out and listening to stories. |
|
Being able to stay at the trailer across from the track for dinner was quite a luxury because of the traffic. I think that it took as much time for the traffic to clear from the area, as it did to run the race. |

As the day died down, some people were still holding on to the party mood. This guy was looking for tickets to the race after the race had been run. A few folks were out there trying to save the people on their way home. I suppose they figured that after this much partying some of these people were in need of saving. :)
| We capped the evening by heading back to the hotel and
taking a quick dip in the pool. Click Here to see all of the pictures from race day. |

| Day4 The Indianapolis Butterfly Garden | May 26, 2003 | |
| On the fourth day of the trip we decided to head over to the Indianapolis Butterfly Garden before starting the trip home. This place was full of all the pretty stuff that you'd expect from a butterfly garden; flowers, fountains, model trains, oh yeah and butterflies. Shelby got to hold one. |
|
|
| Everyone got to enjoy the sights as we wandered the gardens. |

Shelby got a chance to tackle me. I was wearing a football jersey after all.
| In the afternoon everyone hit the road. Mandy and I made it back out to Columbus before calling it a day. | ||
